“There’s a direct relationship between the ballot box and the bread box, and what the union fights for and wins at the bargaining table can be taken away in the legislative halls.” Walter Reuther
This quote rings as true today as when it was said.
We need to protect our contract by voting for those who support us.
Ask these questions of your candidate before you give them your vote:
1.Will you work to ensure that the FAA receives the funding necessary to continue modernization efforts and oppose cuts to the FAA’s budget?
2.Will you work to ensure that the FAA maintains an adequate safety workforce and oppose any effort to reduce, eliminate or contract out the FAA’s technical and safety inspector workforces?
3.Do you believe that the safety and integrity of this country’s air traffic control system is a fundamental government responsibility and should not be privatized?
4.Will you work to oppose any attempts to contract out the critical functions performed by FAA systems specialists?
5.Will you work to limit the amount of maintenance work outsourced by U.S. air carriers and ensure strong FAA oversight of the aviation industry by supporting increased aviation safety inspector staffing at the FAA?
6.Will you reject proposals/legislation seeking to decrease the pay, retirement and health benefits on which federal employees and their families rely?
I know these are not the only issues that energize you to vote for a candidate, but I strongly urge you to consider voting in YOUR own interest, by voting for those who support you.
If you are retiring soon, don’t think that these issues won’t affect you.
Congress has been trying to cut our benefits, the State of Michigan is taxing pensions and is a Right to Work (for less) state, these are not measures designed to help the working middle class.
The fate of legislation aimed against workers is in your hands at the ballot box.
Would you rather protect what you have, or see your benefits and pay further eroded, or even have your job outsourced.
Just think FSS, if you doubt it can happen.
I would recommend you check out your candidate.
Before you cast a vote in their favor, make sure they are in our favor.
In Solidarity,
Tim Mach
